GOIL PLC in partnership with Société Multinationale de Bitumes (SMB), Côte d'Ivoire has inaugurated a Bitumen Terminal and production plant in Tema in the Greater Accra Region

The 40-million-dollar facility has a production plant capacity of 7,500 metric tonnes and will produce Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB), Bitumen Emulsions as well as offer laboratory testing for quality of products, storage, and transfer of bitumen.

The first of its kind, the landmark project is expected to produce the required volumes and other bituminous products sufficient to the needs of Ghana’s road construction sector while drastically reducing the importation of bituminous products into the country.

 The project was jointly inaugurated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and the Prime Minister of Côte d’Ivoire, Robert Beugré Mambé.

President Akufo Addo charged GOIL PLC of SMB, to ensure that they maintain operational excellence at the world-class facility.

The Prime Minister of Côte d’Ivoire, Robert Beugré Mambé, who represented the Ivorian President, Alassane Ouattara, noted that the commissioning of the joint Bitumen Terminal marks a new elevated chapter in the diplomatic and bilateral relations between Ghana and Cóte d’Ivoire. He indicated that the Ivorian President, Alassane Ouattara, is delighted about the materialization of the project as he looks forward to the success of the Bitumen production facility.

In attendance were the Minister of State at the Energy Ministry, Mr. Herbert Krappa, Minister of Mines, Petroleum & Energy of COTE D’IVOIRE, Mr. Mamadou S. Coulibaly, the Board Chairman of GOIL PLC, Mr. Reginald Daniel Laryea, and the Board Chairman of SMB, Mr. Sindou Cisse.

Others were the Group CEO & MD of GOIL, Mr. Kwame Osei-Prempeh, the MD, SMB Mrs. Marie Josephine Sidibe, Board and Management, GOIL PLC, as well as other invited guests and Staff of GOIL PLC.

GOIL has taken note of an audio being circulated purporting to cite some of our stations as allegedly involved in "adjusting fuel pumps to the detriment of customers".

We wish to clarify as follows:

1. The audio in question dates back to 2019 and is being mischievously re-circulated. Again, the issues being mentioned have already been thoroughly investigated, and actions were taken to resolve the matter. Specifically, misunderstandings regarding pump deliveries were addressed and resolved five years ago.
2. Subsequent verifications by the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) have confirmed the accurate delivery of fuel at our stations.
3. The public is therefore advised to ignore the said audio being mischievously re-circulated to ostensibly convey a negative narrative.
4. We assure consumers that GOIL will remain committed to monitoring and delivering value for money on all products purchased from our over 400 stations, in line with the company's compliance and quality policy.
5. GOIL will continue collaborating with the GSA and other regulatory bodies to ensure full compliance with all requirements.

GOIL has re-introduced SUPER XP, the company’s Ron 91 grade fuel at a symbolic unveiling ceremony at its Burma Camp station in Accra. The reintroduction adds to the already popular Super XP 95 premium-grade fuel already being sold.

The Group CEO and MD of GOIL, Mr. Kwame Osei-Prempeh, explained that the reintroduction of GOIL SUPER XP is a testament to the company’s dedication to providing customers with the highest quality fuel products. He noted that GOIL understands the evolving needs of its customers and is committed to delivering fuels that not only meet but exceed their expectations. 

 He said GOIL SUPER XP is a specially designed fuel that meets the fuel needs of customers and suits a wide range of vehicles be it small, big cars, tricycles (yellow, yellow), or motorcycles. GOIL, he added, will continue to serve the needs of all consumers.

The Head of Fuels Marketing, Mr. Augustine Boateng said GOIL SUPER XP comes with an added advantage over other regular fuels because it has been formulated with XP3 additives designed to enhance engine performance and ensures that engines run more smoothly and efficiently. He appealed to consumers to patronize GOIL SUPER XP which is compatible with most vehicles. GOIL Super XP is immensely beneficial to motorists who want to reduce their overall fuel consumption, he added.

The re-introduction ceremony was preceded by a team of orange-wearing promoters and skaters who thronged some streets of Accra. The symbolic ceremony was attended by some members of the GOIL Management team, the Sales and Marketing Team, motorists, and a section of the public.

The Head of GOIL Upstream Ltd, Dr. Ing. Belinda Boadi has been honored with
the ‘Exemplary Woman in Corporate Governance Award’ at the 2024 National Governance
& Business Leadership Awards held in Accra.
She was listed among the Top 20 Women to be recognized under the category of exceptional
female leaders.
The National Governance & Business Leadership Awards this year, marked its 4 th  year of
championing economic development and strategic leadership in Ghana.

GOIL PLC has been honored as the ‘Oil Marketing Company of the Year’ at the Ghana
Downstream Awards organized by the NPA, AOMC, and CBOD. GOIL also received a special
Award for its “Outstanding contribution to the Petroleum Downstream Sector, as a Pioneer in the
retail of Petroleum Products”.

GO Energy was also recognized as the best ‘BDC of the Year’
The following also received special recognition for their outstanding Contributions to the
Petroleum downstream chain at the Ghana Downstream Awards.

1. Mr Yaw Agyeman Duah - former MD (for his major contributions to the industry and the
formation of and growth of (AOMC)
2. Mr. Patrick Akorli- former MD (given for outstanding contribution and leadership in the
transformation of GOIL PLC)
3. ⁠Mr. Gyamfi Amanquah- MD GO Energy (for his outstanding contribution in Ghana’s
Petroleum Downstream sector
4. ⁠The late Mr. Alex Josiah Adzew, former COO was posthumously honored with a special
recognition award for his outstanding contribution and transformational leadership as the first
Chief Operating Officer of GOIL PLC.
