Ghana’s Representative at this year’s Spelling Bee International Championship Shifa Amankwa-
Gabbey, has paid a courtesy call on Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of GOIL,
Mr. Patrick Akorli.
She was accompanied by Executives of the Young Educators Foundation, (YEF) organizers of
the National Spelling Bee competition in Ghana
Also in attendance was a section of management of GOIL including the Chief Operating Officer,
Mr. Alex Adzew.
GOIL was a proud sponsor of the Spelling Bee Championship.
Shifa represented Ghana at the Scripps Spelling Bee international competition at Washington DC
in the United States of America after emerging winner of the 2018 edition of the National
Spelling Bee Championship in Accra.
The 12-year Junior High School student from Nagie’s Angels Educational Centre in Kumasi in
the Ashanti Region beat over 150 other spellers from various schools across the country to take
home the ultimate prize.
Mr. Akorli encouraged Shifa to continue to work harder to achieve more academic laurels for
herself and the nation.
