GOIL & JETRO Discuss Future-Focused Energy Investments

The Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of GOIL PLC, Mr. Edward Abambire Bawa, has hosted a three-member delegation from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) for strategic discussions in Accra, aimed at deepening cooperation in infrastructure and energy development.

The JETRO delegation was led by its Director-General, Mr. Tsubasa Nakagawa, and included Mr. Frank Boadi Acheampong, Manager, Research and Business Development, and Mr. Kweku Adu-Mensah. The meeting provided an opportunity for both teams to explore mutually beneficial partnerships that align with Ghana’s evolving energy landscape.

Central to the discussions was the potential for collaboration in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) storage infrastructure. Mr. Bawa underscored GOIL’s interest in a possible joint venture to expand LPG storage capacity, noting that such investment would strengthen supply security, enhance operational efficiency, and deliver long-term value to consumers. He reiterated that GOIL remains focused on infrastructure development that promotes sustainability, quality, and value for money, consistent with the company’s long-term growth strategy.

The parties also discussed opportunities in the development of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. With one of the widest networks of service stations across the country, GOIL is well positioned to support Ghana’s gradual transition toward cleaner mobility solutions. Mr. Bawa emphasized that leveraging this nationwide footprint would enable the company to play a leading role in deploying accessible and reliable EV charging points.

The GOIL delegation at the meeting included the Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Marcus Deo Dake; the Chief Finance Officer, Mr. Robert Nii Lartey; the Head of Fuels Marketing, Mr. Emmanuel K. Agyiri; the Technical Advisor to the Group CEO, Mr. Mark Ofori-Amanfo; and the Head of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Robert Kyere.

The engagement marks a significant step in GOIL’s ongoing efforts to build strong international partnerships that enhance operational capacity, strengthen infrastructure, and support sustainable energy development in Ghana.
