This year’s Ghana Driver and Road Safety Awards was launched in Accra against the backdrop
that about one thousand four hundred and forty-three people have died and close to nine thousand
two hundred and eighteen persons were maimed in the last 6 months because of road accidents.
The Ghana Driver and Road Safety Awards is expected to use rewards, driving skills refresher
, and behavior training to promote road safety. The annual award scheme is designed to recognize
drivers in the country for their adherence to road safety rules and regulations and outstanding
driving ethics.
Deputy Minister of Transport, Hon. Alhassan Tampuli, who launched the awards noted road
accidents were of great concern and would be critically tackled to ensure significant decreases in
fatalities.
GOIL is for the third consecutive year sponsoring the awards organized by the Ghana Driver and
Road Safety Awards Foundation and the National Road Safety Authority.
Public Relations Manager, Robert Kyere assured GOIL will continue to support the agenda of
promoting road safety in the country. He encouraged the public to patronize GOIL’s low Sulphur
content Diesel XP and Super XP RON 95 as well as its wide range of lubricants.
Present at the event was the Director of Partnerships of the GDRSA Foundation, Freda
Frimpong, Chief Executive Officer of DVLA, Kwasi Agyemang Busia, Ag. Director General of
the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), Ing. David Adonteng, representatives from
partner institutions, and other stakeholders.
